About frameDB

frameDB is a community-sourced database of how games run on Steam Frame, in both 2D and standalone VR.

Anyone can sign in with Steam and share a report: how it ran, at what settings, and how it felt. Reports are combined into a verdict for each game.

I made this platform because I love tinkering. I did a lot of tinkering with my Steam Deck doing things like installing Guild Wars 2, Tribes 2, and just testing its limits. I want to do the same with my Frame, and that's why I made this.

If you're looking for a platform to help track reservations and orders, Go use SteamFrameOut.

What about the Verified Program?

The verified program is useful, but there is no alternative for community reports on non-verified games. Maybe you want to know if PEAK runs good on the Frame... Or maybe Superhot VR. This is to fill that gap.

Laravel Cloud Domain?

I host this on Laravel Cloud. If I find its gaining traction and is being adopted, I will buy a domain name.

"Vibe Coded Crap!"

Its not. But people love to point fingers and claim it is.

Nobody is forcing you to use this platform. I am a software engineer as my dayjob and I wanted to fill a gap where I didn't see community reporting. I wrote the backend in Laravel myself as thats my comfort zone framework, and I work 40+ hour weeks as a fullstack developer during the week.

With that being said, I wrote the backend in PHP (Laravel), but I am one person. So I had an LLM assist partially with the front end scaffolding in tailwind and I adjusted it as I see fit. This project was not "vibe coded", and a lot of work went into the backend infrastructure, integrating with the Steam API and optimizing the database & caching calls. That's the stuff I have fun with writing.

As a software developer, if I don't stay on top of the current trends, even if I dont agree with them, I fall behind and I become unmarketable in the job market. It sucks but this is how it works for anyone in development or IT.

I've been a software developer for 6 years professionally now and have a pretty good feeling I know what I am doing. But I don't feel like I need to justify my background to anybody. If using in part an LLM bothers you, don't be mean about it and just don't use the platform. Move on, Problem Solved. Don't guilt me over it.

"Im not giving you my Steam login!"

frameDB uses Steam's official OpenID sign-in. When you click Sign in through Steam, you are sent to steamcommunity.com, and you enter your credentials (and Steam Guard code) there, on Steam's own site. We never see your username, password, or Steam Guard code. Steam simply tells us, "yes, this person is Steam account #XXXX."

Always check the address bar on the sign-in page. It should be steamcommunity.com. If it isn't, don't type anything.

You can check or change what's public any time in your Steam privacy settings.

frameDB is an independent project and is not affiliated with Valve Software.
